Destination weddings are pretty much the same as local weddings except for not being familiar with a venue and not knowing how the light will play out. Vaughn Goebel and Cathy Andorfer tied the knot at the Key West Garden Club last Saturday and it turned out to be a beautiful event with perfect weather and a sunset 15 minutes after the ceremony. I had to do a lot of fast portraits so we didn’t miss the last shots on the beach outside of the old civil war fort (now the Key West Garden Club) which is on the Atlantic side of Key West. I was afraid that we would not get a sunset because of weather and angle of the location to the south not west. I had to photoshop a lot of people out who were also watching a beautiful sunset. I do like destination weddings because we also get to be involved in other activities during the week and get to know the families and guests better. And the real bonus is to have some down time relaxing and exploring a cool place. Nelson and I hadnt been to Key West since our honeymoon 11 years ago and not much had changed but we got to be tourists for a bit and enjoy this unique island community with all kinds of historical hot spots. Congratulations to Cathy & Vaughn!!
